ICS Full Form
Full Form of ICS is – Internet Connection Sharing
Internet Connection Sharing
ICS Full Form is Internet Connection Sharing. ICS allows multiple computers to connect to the Internet using the same Internet connection and IP address. For example, multiple computers in a home can be connected to a single cable or DSL modem using a router.
until Router As long as the modem is connected, every computer connected to the router is also connected to the internet. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows computers to share the same IP address.
ICS can also be done using the software. Windows 98 and later, as well as Mac OS X, support Internet Connection Sharing. It allows a system’s network settings to be modified, turning a computer into a gateway.
Other computers on the same network can then use that computer’s Internet connection. Windows users can also use programs like WinGate and WinProxy to achieve similar results. However, for ICS the easiest and hassle-free solution is to share the Internet connection using software using hardware (such as a router).
Internet connection sharing or ICS is a built-in feature of Windows Compute (Windows 98, 2000, Mi, and Vista) that allows multiple computers to connect to the Internet on a single computer using a single Internet connection.
It is a type of Local Area Network (LAN) that uses a single computer as the gateway (or host) through which other devices connect to the Internet. ICS can be accessed by having the computer wired to the gateway computer or by connecting to it wirelessly via an ad-hoc wireless network.
Allows most devices of any type (including non-Windows and older Windows systems) to connect without installing additional client software.
Support for all connected clients to use many different protocols, including VPN and Internet gaming.
The client is automatically assigned an IP address and configured for DNS through the ICS computer.
In Windows 98 or Windows Me, ICS must be enabled or installed on the host computer from Control Panel- Add/Remove Programs (on the Windows Setup tab, double-click Internet Tools, then select Internet Connection Sharing). Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 already have this built-in (setting “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection” on the Sharing tab in the properties of Local Area Connection)
